N3 Connectivity

MLL Telecom is a key partner managing the transition from the old NHS N3 Network to the new Health and Social Care Network (HSCN).

N3 is the National Health Service’s national high-speed broadband network connecting 1.3 million employees across all of England’s NHS locations as well as the wider health community. However, the network is in the process of being phased out as it will be unable to cope with the large increase in network capacity that will be required as medical services advance, technology develops and patient demand for critical services soars.

In 2017, a 5-year plan was launched by the NHS focussing on updating technology to improve healthcare services. As part of this plan, all NHS departments have been given the mandate to move to the new Health and Social Care Network (HSCN) by 2020.

MLL Telecom can offer a complete range of HSCN compliant connectivity services using wholesale carrier layer 2 circuits from a range of carriers including BT, Virgin Media, SSE, Vodafone and Talk Talk Business to provide complete national coverage. MLL Telecom has a number of local Points of Presence (PoPs) and can create new PoPs where this can deliver greater value. Regardless of the underlying connectivity, the service presented at a site is the same. MLL Telecom can also provide a range of additional services.

Reduced Costs

The deployment of the HSCN will lead to reduced costs combined with increased bandwidth; a recent project in Devon resulted in a bandwidth increase of 10 times and a 20% reduction in costs.
