MLL ready to deliver DfE Connnect The Classroom to more schools in 2025

£25M additional funding for schools and academies to boost WiFi performance

As an already approved supplier we are ready and able to provide more UK schools and academies with the latest secure wireless network (WiFi) technology. This is following the release of a further £25M by the Department for Education (DfE) under its Connect The Classroom (CTC) scheme for the current financial year – a £215 million investment having been provided between 2021 and 2025.

The DfE CTC initiative enables many more schools to receive direct financial support to modernise their wireless networks. However, schools will still be responsible for procuring their own supplier and their work must meet DfE specifications.

Those that are eligible for the funding will be contacted directly by the DfE, following their current WiFi connectivity being identified as not being up to standard. For example, in cases where a Wi-Fi Alliance approved wireless network is not in use, or where there’s not a fully functional signal from a wireless network throughout the school or college buildings and externally. Where required, a solution must also be in place to centrally manage the wireless network and security features to stop unauthorised access.

“As an already approved CTC supplier, we are delighted to be part of the DfE’s initiative and ready immediately to equip more schools and academies across the UK with the secure, fast and reliable high-speed WiFi connectivity they urgently need,” said Mark Freeborough, MLL Client Manager, Public Sector – South.

“MLL are already experienced in meeting the WiFi networking requirements of schools and academies under Connect The Classroom, having worked alongside South East Grid for Learning (SEGfL) since last year to deliver solutions to over 25 schools and academies. Furthermore, as a longstanding provider of managed network solutions to the UK public sector and with a dedicated schools team in place, we are ideally qualified technically and geographically to help ensure Connect the Classroom delivers the biggest positive impact on learning environment and outcomes as quickly as possible.”
