MLL makes senior Public Sector business appointments

Gail Harvey promoted to Head of Public Sector Sales; Andrew Shilton to Director of Technology

MLL is delighted to announce two senior appointments in its Public Sector business. This follows the promotion of Gail Harvey to Head of Public Sector Sales and Andrew Shilton to Director of Technology. Gail and Andrew have also joined MLL’s Executive Leadership Team.

MLL CEO, Stuart Wallis is confident Gail and Andrew’s leadership in these key roles will be pivotal in further strengthening MLL’s position and ambitions across the Public Sector. He said: “Gail’s primary objective will be to drive our Public Sector strategy with a clear focus on customer retention and growth, while also leading new customer business development. Her deep sector knowledge and customer centric approach will be critical as we continue to build strong, sustainable relationships across our portfolio.

“Andrew, will own our Public Sector technology strategy, shaping our direction across an evolving networking landscape and ensuring we deliver a compelling, future ready capability. In addition, he will bring together and accelerate our AI vision for the next 12–18 months, ensuring technology remains a core differentiator for our customers and our business.”

Gail Harvey – “Seizing this opportunity to drive our next phase of Public Sector growth”

For over 10 years Gail has been leading MLL’s high achieving Business Development team, building on previous experience gained in other leading network organisations including Cable & Wireless. Among her many notable achievements, Gail was instrumental in MLL winning the managed service contract with the Royal Borough of Greenwich in 2017, proving our ability to deliver Security, WAN, Wi-Fi and UC services at scale for major public sector organisations.

“I am relishing the opportunity to build on the strong foundation we’ve created. Over the last decade MLL has grown to support more than 200 public sector organisations. As a medium-sized organisation, customers know exactly who they’re dealing with – whether that’s our NOC engineers or members of the executive team. We pride ourselves on being responsive, personal and easy to work with.

“Our focus now is on continuing to deliver exceptional service while helping customers evolve their networks and services to meet changing ways of working and the needs of the citizens they serve. Our secure, high-performing managed networks will help customers to modernise their infrastructure and take advantage of emerging technologies such as AI and IoT.

Andrew Shilton – “Evolving MLL’s services to maximise the benefits of AI”

Following a solutions design career with both an SME provider and O2, Andrew joined MLL as a Senior Solution Architect in 2017 and has since held the positions of Solution Director and Head of Pre-Sales. One of his standout achievements at MLL to date has been helping transform the business from a traditional MPLS provider into a dynamic Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) Managed Service Provider. “The shift,” he said, “reflects both the changing needs of customers and the increasing importance of secure, cloud-enabled connectivity across modern digital services.

“The best part of what we do is talking with our customers about how we can solve their challenges with the right combination of technology and services,” he explains. “Every organisation is trying to deliver better outcomes with limited resources, and it’s incredibly satisfying when we can help enable that.”

Andrew believes the biggest challenge UK Public Sector organisations are facing as part of their digital transformation is the growing pressure to do more with less. “This is on top of re-organisations across local government and the NHS which make transformational projects even more challenging. The obvious answer is AI, although the interesting questions are possibly when, how and by how much? While AI is often cited as the biggest opportunity, the real questions lie in how it will be implemented, when it will deliver meaningful value, and the scale of its long-term impact.”

“In my new role I am really looking forward to building the future of connectivity provision in UK Public Sector. My priority is to evolve MLL’s services to maximise the benefits of AI while continuing to introduce innovative solutions for customers. Central to this will be leveraging the significant investment MLL has made in its own core network to deliver more advanced, secure, and flexible services.”
