MLL continues long term partnership with NHS Integrated Care Board

During a period of significant change for NHS Integrated Care Boards (ICB) across England, MLL is proud to be supporting NHS Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board (BSW ICB).

Created in July 2022, NHS BSW ICB renewed MLL’s network services contract in March 2025 after a competitive procurement process. This is for a further three years with the option to extend for an additional two years. The contract was originally awarded to MLL in 2018 by the former Swindon Clinical Commissioning Group following a competitive tender.

Following the contract renewal, MLL is continuing to partner BSW ICB in managing its connectivity to the HSCN network as well as upgrading the existing internet connections at 140 sites. These include three ICB offices as well as multiple GP practices, many of which are in rural areas. In addition, MLL ensures reliable connection and access to cloud services on behalf of BSW ICB’s Swindon site.

Optimising cost and productivity are the key ongoing drivers behind BSW ICB and MLL’s focus on maximising available bandwidths at the GP sites including the upgrading to Gigabit capable connections wherever viable. This ensures BSW can choose the appropriate balance per site and achieve both its performance and commercial goals for the ICB while also having future proof connectivity infrastructure.

MLL’s efficient project management and implementation of our challenging connectivity optimisation programme is key,” said the Infrastructure and Cyber Security Operations Lead of BSW ICB. “This is no mean feat considering the large number of sites, often in a rural area, and the ongoing coordination required with multiple carriers. I am especially pleased with the technical knowledge and responsiveness of MLL’s Service Management team which ensures a smooth and transparent partnership between our two organisations.”

Matt Baker, MLL’s Strategic Client Director, South, added: “We are delighted to be continuing our long running partnership with NHS Bath, North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire ICB which has endured and thrived over the years amid significant change within the healthcare sector – in which MLL has considerable track-record. Our success at BSW ICB is testament to our ability to consistently provide high quality, cost-effective and flexible connectivity solutions, backed by responsive and knowledgeable engineering and service teams.”

Over the course of the new contact the ICB will be working closely with MLL to further optimise connectivity ensuring both the ICB and GP practices have the connectivity required as the NHS 10-Year plan is implemented.
