CCTV Circuits
As CCTV systems migrate to IP-based cameras with higher connection speeds there are increasing opportunities to lower the costs of connectivity by using EFM (Ethernet First Mile) and wireless meshed networks.
Integration of CCTV services into shared PSN networks can deliver even greater cost savings. MLL Telecom is uniquely placed to offer shared local authority networks, copper-based services and wireless solutions for CCTV connectivity.
Case study: North Lanarkshire wireless CCTV network
A wireless communication network designed and built by MLL Telecom has enabled North Lanarkshire Council to support over 20 mobile CCTV cameras, which can be quickly mobilised and used to monitor various locations and events.
Wireless CCTV connections
MLL Telecom has twenty years' experience in designing, building and operating wireless networks for the largest telecoms operators in the UK.
MLL Telecom delivers turnkey wireless solutions to connect CCTV cameras using point-to-point technologies such as microwave radio or pervasive wireless technologies such as WiFi and WiMAX.
For CCTV cameras that are required to be 'nomadic', wireless is an ideal solution compared to incurring fixed connection charges.
EFM (Ethernet First Mile) CCTV connections
EFM (or SHDSL) services offer Ethernet connections delivered over copper telephone cable. They can be delivered by an Ofcom licensed telecoms operator, such as MLL Telecom, who has access to the copper pairs connected to the telephone exchange. Depending on distance, EFM technology can deliver up to 40Mb/s.
Unlike consumer broadband technology, MLL Telecom's EFM services deliver symmetrical downstream and upstream bandwidths, making it ideal for CCTV applications where the bulk of the traffic flows into the network from the end device.
MLL Telecom can also offer a ruggedized outdoor termination of its EFM service, specifically for use with CCTV cameras. A further option is to extend connectivity from this point using WiFi.
