MLL Telecom commits to gain ISO27001 in 2012
28 July 2011
Company appoints Simon Banks as Head of Service Delivery to lead the project
MLL Telecom announced that it is working towards the international standard for best practise for an information security security system, ISO27001. The standard is a systematic approach to managing confidential or sensitive corporate information so that it remains secure. It encompasses people, processes and IT Systems.
Gary Marven, COO at MLL Telecom said of the project, 'Information security has to be a foundation stone in our business and gaining ISO27001 is a key part of that strategy. It is also becoming increasingly important to our customers. Organisations, particularly in the public sector, are increasingly concerned about security of data and network security, so working towards this internationally recognised standard is a must.'
To lead the accreditation project the company has appointed Simon Banks as Head of Service Delivery. In his role at MLL Telecom Simon is responsible for strategic management of the Network Operations Centre (NOC), including driving continuous improvements in processes and team development, systems management and is also the key service management interface for major customers.
Before joining MLL Telecom Simon was Global Head of Network Operations Centres at Siemens Enterprise Communications, Managing Director of Sequoia Networks UK and also held customer-facing roles at Stratacom and Cisco.
MLL Telecom is planning a trial audit this Autumn and aims to complete its ISO27001 accreditation in 2012.
