MLL Telecom Invests in New Field Maintenance Team

Company raises green credentials with field maintenance vehicle fleet

MLL Telecom has invested in a new field maintenance team and fleet of fuel-efficient Toyota Hilux vehicles. The team will be responsible for proactively maintaining MLL Telecoms network of 5000 links. The maintenance team engineers are based at different locations throughout the UK, which enables MLL to be highly responsive to any customer issue.

"In-sourcing our field maintenance team provides MLL with numerous benefits," said Gary Marven, Chief Operations Officer. "Not least is the control this gives us to provide a highly integrated quality of service for our customers. We will also have more flexibility to adapt to the changing requirements of our customers to ensure they always receive the best service to meet their needs."

MLL Telecom chose Toyota Hilux vehicles, capable of reaching the UK's remotest locations, as they have the lowest carbon emissions in their class. "It is important to MLL that we run the most environmentally friendly vehicles as practically possible" added Marven. The company is also working towards the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard certification.

Other benefits from the new team include improved cost control and tightly integrated communications between the 24×7 NOC (Network Operations Centre) and the field engineers. This means that local knowledge gathered by the field engineers is retained to be fed back into the NOC, ultimately resulting in improved network design and availability.
