Gigabit
A gigabit is a unit of information or computer storage, abbreviated Gbit or sometimes Gb. 1 gigabit = 109 = 1,000,000,000 bits (which is equal to 125 decimal megabytes or 119.2 mebibytes, as 8 bits equals one byte). The speed of MLL Telecom's connectivity solutions is often measured in gigabits per second. A gigabit per second (Gbit/s or Gbps) is a unit of data transfer rate equal to 1,000 megabits per second or 1,000,000 kilobits per second or 1,000,000,000 bits per second.
Gigabit Ethernet (GbE or 1 GigE) is a term describing various technologies for transmitting Ethernet packets at a rate of a gigabit per second, as defined by the IEEE 802.3-2005 standard. Half duplex gigabit links connected through hubs are allowed by the specification but in the marketplace full duplex with switches is the norm.
