Local loop unbundling
Local Loop Unbundling, or LLU, describes the provision of telecommunications circuits to a customer's site using the incumbent operator's copper pairs. LLU can only be delivered by another licensed operator and requires them to operate equipment located within the telephone exchange. Typically services up to about 20Mbit/s can be delivered over LLU circuits, depending on the distance from the exchange and the amount of copper pairs used.
