Licensed Spectrum

The specific part of the electromagnetic spectrum that can be licensed for use by telecommunications operators. Telecommunication companies can gain a spectrum licence that grants them the sole right to use a portion of the radio frequency spectrum in a given geographical area for communication purposes. Licensing is performed by Ofcom. Using licensed spectrum ensures a service will not be degraded by another user of the spectrum.
